This is the day of light
作詞者のジョン・エラートン(John Ellerton　1826-1893)は英国のトリニティ・カレッジ卒業後、1850年、教職に就き、セント・ニコラス、ブライトン、クルーなどで教会区司祭をつとめました。讃美歌には世に認められた権威で、古今聖歌(Hymns Ancient and Modern)にも寄稿、８０を超える讃美歌を著し、あるいは翻訳をしました。（The Cyberhymnalより)

今日(きょう)は光(ひかり)が　造(つく)られた日(ひ)よ、
闇(やみ)の中(なか)にも　「光(ひかり)かがやけ」。

今日(きょう)は聖(せい)なる　安息(あんそく)の日(ひ)よ、
疲(つか)れた心(こころ)　新(あら)たにされる。

今日(きょう)は平和(へいわ)が　満(み)ちあふれる日(ひ)、
あらそい騒(さわ)ぐ　波(なみ)もしずまる。

今日(きょう)はみ神(かみ)に　共(とも)に祈(いの)る日(ひ)、
心(こころ)を高(たか)く　み前(まえ)に上(あ)げよう。

今日(きょう)は主(しゅ)イェスの　よみがえりの日(ひ)、
われらを生(い)かす　愛(あい)をたたえよ。
