讃美歌２１　４３６　十字架の血に
この美しい讃美歌はリヴァイヴァル讃美歌のひとつで、アメリカやイギリスではよく招きの讃美歌（神様からのみ招きに対する会衆からの賛美による応答--invitation hymn）として使われます。作詞・作曲者であるルイス・ハーサフ（Lewis Hartsough--1828-1919)はアメリカ合衆国ニューヨーク州メソヂスト監督教会のケイゼノヴィア・セミナリーを1852年に卒業後、翌年メデヂストの牧師に任ぜられました。1868年頃健康上の理由によりユタミッションの監督者となり、後にはワイオミング地区のエルダーに、さらに同じ頃ジョセフ・ヒルマン「リヴァイヴァリスト（Revivalist）」の音楽編集者になりました。1871年、アイオワ州エプワースのメソヂスト教会牧師となり、1895年67歳で隠退しました。
